Just Say No to the Broome IDAPosted: August 14, 2011
Governor Cuomo is proposing to create 10 economic development regions and let them compete for more than a billion dollars in state grants plus tax breaks. These regional development groups will be decided by local leaders.
On July 13th, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said that there was no connection between the tax exemptions given by the IDA’s and job growth.
Please Governor and local leaders, do not allow the billions to fall into the hands of those agencies like the Broome County Industrial Development Agency that have operated for years with millions in public funds and don’t account for dollars spent and jobs created.
