Countries that provide health care to all citizens spend one-half the amount we do in the U.S.? Government run programs in the other industrialized countries regulate the cost of care while also eliminating the 25-30 cents of every dollar spent that goes to the private insurance companies. Medicare operates on a three to four percent overhead. Insurance company profits are killing us.
In other industrialized countries health care is provided without co-pays and deductibles. In twenty two countries with health insurance for all, people live longer than people in the U.S. Health care for all can add eight years to our lives.
The Veteran’s Administration has established an electronic medical records system that costs one tenth of the amount the hospitals in the U.S. does. The VA system is used all over the world. But, outside of the V.A. it is not used here.
