1815 – In Binghamton a 19 year old female slave is offered for sale to the highest bidder.

1971 – Cemetery of the former Broome County Poorhouse is unearthed by a bulldozer operator working in the Town of Dickinson. No evidence of markers is found for the graves. Bodies will be moved to Spring Forest Cemetery.

1973 – The performance of rock star Alice Cooper at the Broome County Veteran’s Memorial Arena is banned; only months before, a Binghamton jury determined the movie Deep Throat to be “not obscene” in a nationally famous court case.
